When the Student Is Ready, the Teacher Appears

When the student is ready, the teacher appears. Sometimes a teacher enters our life so quietly that we don’t realize, at first, how profoundly they are about to change us.

In early 2021, I had begun investing my time, energy, and resources into the magical world of Crystal Alchemy Singing Bowls. One day, a friend casually suggested that I check out a woman named Jeralyn Glass, who taught sound healing with the bowls. Little did I know where that simple suggestion would lead. I signed up for one of Jeralyn’s class series on The Shift Network. I found it interesting and intriguing, but it wasn’t life changing.

Then I watched an interview she did with Lee Harris—and everything changed. Jeralyn shared her heart-centered, grief-laden soul’s journey with such vulnerability and authenticity that something deep within me awakened. I was especially touched by her relationship with her beloved son, Dylan, who had passed on but remained connected with his mother from the other side—and, at times, with her students.

So I decided to ask Dylan myself.

“What do you think, Dylan? Should I study with your mom?”

Almost immediately, my body began vibrating and tears started flowing,  not from sadness but from a place of deep resonance and recognition—a knowing that I felt deep within my bones. I knew had my answer.

I contacted Jeralyn and registered for her upcoming introductory class. Because this was during the pandemic, everything was virtual, yet the connection and learning were profound. I went on to complete the next three levels of her in-depth training as a sound healing practitioner with Crystal Alchemy Singing Bowls, continually deepening my experience, knowledge, and relationship with these extraordinary instruments.

I also began purchasing my bowls through Jeralyn. She has an incredible gift for connecting people with their divinely perfect bowls. Over the years, she helped me curate six beautiful sets of Crystal Alchemy Singing Bowls, each with its own unique energy and purpose.

Gradually, the bowls found their way into everything I was doing. I began incorporating sound healing into my virtual classes and my healing work with private clients. What started as a new area of exploration became something much deeper. Now, more than five years later, sound healing with Crystal Alchemy Singing Bowls has become the heart of my work. It is not simply something I do. It is my soul’s calling—both personally and professionally.

Looking back, I can see how one casual suggestion from a friend opened a doorway that changed the course of my life in ways I never could have imagined. Jeralyn remains a beloved teacher, mentor, and friend. As my journey with the bowls continues to unfold, I am deeply grateful for all that she has brought into my life—and for the divinely perfect way the right teacher appeared at exactly the right time.
